Research Interests:

Optical processes in solids

Optical properties of semiconductors, including III-V quantum wells and 3D materials, polymeric and amorphous semiconductors.

Particular interests in semiconductors are : ultrafast dynamics of excitons in low-dimensional semiconductors, including resonant coherent response, incoherent energy relaxation; high resoluton Raman and magneto-Raman scattering in semiconductors; near-field optical spectroscopy of quantum dots.

Other interests include Raman spectroscopic studies of silica glass for next-generation deep-UV lithography (collaboration with TSL plc), Raman scattering studies of glasses for optical phase-change memory (collaboration with TDK Corporation, Nagano) and development of Raman techniques (collaboration with Renishaw plc).
